Welcome to Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival.

Our 10-day festival has taken place annually at the end of May since 1979. The founding aim was to bring international performers of the highest quality to a region containing many scattered rural communities that would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience such talent. Since then, this region has produced some of its own talent of international standing and we’re proud to be able to present these artistes from time to time.

We offer a wide range of events: music, including classical, jazz and folk, dance, theatre, literary, children’s plus the visual arts and films. The growing number of children’s events in recent years plus a revitalised literary programme added to our strong music, dance and theatre tradition has, we believe, enhanced the programme we offer.

Events take place in a range of venues throughout the region, from large to small, formal to informal, urban to rural.

Over the years, we have secured a loyal and valued membership, who make a vital contribution to our programming capabilities. New members and patrons are always very welcome.
