Our year-round Stage iT programme presents a double bill of brand new theatre created by young people from across Dumfries & Galloway. Two of our region’s leading youth theatres explore the climate crisis, what it means to the people of our beautiful region and how we can all contribute to the protection of our environment for future generations.

In late 2022, Stage iT called out to youth performance groups across the region, offering  commissions to create brand new work exploring the Climate Crisis to be presented at our 2023 Festival.

We were delighted to award these commissions to Birchvale Players and Wee Mousie Theatre Company.

The Birchvale is a small community theatre which has been the local hub for drama, film and entertainment in Dalbeattie since 1933.  The Youth Theatre at Birchvale encourages young people to discover just how much fun it is to “be yourself”!

Run by Grant Dinwoodie, Wee Mousie Drama Class is a new exciting programme that enables students to develop as creative and imaginative individuals.  Wee Mousie have feature within our year-round progamme before as part of STORM in 2021 which was a huge success!

As part of their commissions, both groups have been working with industry professionals in writing, directing, audiovisual technology and set design to enhance their work.

Join us for a night celebrating local emerging artists.
