A brand new street band from Oi Musica, the Tubes bring a ray of sunshine to a world still reeling from heartache and tough times. Banjo, percussion and harmony singing are shot through with trumpet, trombone and sousaphone for a heady mix of searing brass and earthy groove.

The band boasts 4 ex-members of Edinburgh’s internationally acclaimed Orkestra del Sol – sadly now disbanded, but whose spirit lives on in the work Oi Musica does to reclaim streets and public spaces as settings for live music, fun and excitement.

Although the set includes songs of a bittersweet bent, the band exudes positivity – its musicians adept at bringing the Good Times. Tap a toe, whistle a chorus and get into the swing ‘n’ shuffle – Americana, N’Orleans jazz and a dash of home grown folk.

Cameron Jay – trumpet, vocals

George Gillespie – trombone, vocals

Marcus Britton – sousaphone, vocals

Marty Hailey – banjo, vocals

Olivia Furness – percussion, vocals

Tim Lane – percussion, vocals

Venue Accessibility Information:

The show will be held in the Sun Amphitheatre. Visitors will park adjacent to our visitor facilities and will also be able to access facilities and refreshments from The Coalface. Visitors will use the main access known as the Low Road to make their way up to the Sun Amphitheatre.  This is a gentle walk taking around 5-10 minutes.

As an outdoor venue, there are uneven ground conditions and steep slopes. The site is also open to the elements, so we would encourage visitors to wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather – even in May in Scotland.

If you have access requirements to access the site – please email: info@dgartsfestival.org.uk where we can talk you through alternative arrangements.
