Are you aged 14 – 26?

Are you passionate about live performance?

Would you like to have your say on which events Stage iT and The Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival programme for young people in our region?

IF SO join the Young Promoters Group (YPG), Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival’s Youth Steering Group – the YPG. The YPG are a collective of friendly young people who are interested in seeing, programming and delivering live music, theatre, dance and comedy across D&G.

And this doesn’t mean you need to be a performer! We are a group of young people who want to ensure live shows are brought to our region.

Below are some of the opportunities that will be available to you as a member of the YPG:

Mentorship

The YPG meet up once a month to discuss what we have coming up and make decisions on which events they would like to see happen. During these meetings, we invite guest speakers to give us advice and training. These sessions help the YPG to develop their skills as event organisers through confidence building, event critique and event production talks and workshops. If there is something more specific you want to learn more about, we are always open to making our mentorship opportunities exactly what our young people want and need.

All of these experiences look great on a CV when applying for other opportunities and training, jobs and further education.

Industry Opportunities

We create opportunities to for the YPG to shadow some of the best industry professionals at our year-round events, by providing industry opportunities. You could have the opportunity to film for live streams, work on the sound and lighting at a show, be given professional advice from a musician, actor, dancer, poet or comedian and learn how to produce an event from scratch.

Go and See

Each year we provide Go and See opportunities for the YPG. Each of our volunteers have access to our full year – round programme of events free of charge.

As part of the YPG, you will also be invited on trips away from Dumfries and Galloway to see watch shows at events such as the Edinburgh Fringe and Celtic Connections.

Support for Ambition and Commissions

Each year we support young artists to create or revisit creative works to get them ready for the stage. As part of the YPG you will be given the opportunity to be a part of a panel that decides which young artists we will support in a given year, as part of our commission application process.
