Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival announce the dates for their 44th Annual Festival

Scotland’s largest rural performing arts Festival is back in venues across Dumfries & Galloway from 20th – 28th May 2023.

For 44 years, the D&G Arts Festival has brought world-class theatre, music, dance, comedy and spoken word to the heart of communities across the region. The Festival is a celebration of local and national artists and its wide ranging 2023 programme of events will be announced on Wednesday 22nd March.

Celebrated for enabling people in some of Scotland’s most rural areas to experience world-class performing arts, the Festival brings work to the heart of communities, invests in the performing arts infrastructure of the region and, through its Stage iT project, introduces young people aged 14 – 26 years old to high quality live performance with an imaginative and exciting programme.

The team is building on its successes of 2022 and has created an eclectic and exciting programme of work for the 44th Annual Festival that offers something for everyone to enjoy.

The Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival 2023 will mark a distinctive change in its 44-year history with a focus on building a strong and sustainable future for its cultural offering in the region. Their 2023 Arts Festival will enrich lives through the transformative power of the performing arts and aim to create safer spaces for artists to innovate and tell stories that are relevant to our times.

The 2023 Festival will present work in a wide variety of local venues, some non-traditional performance spaces, both outdoors and online, providing events that build community engagement, enhance the health and wellbeing of communities, and nurture equality of access and environmental sustainability.

Simon Hart, CEO at the Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival said “We look forward to sharing our eclectic 2023 Festival programme of performing arts with audiences across Dumfries & Galloway, and welcoming leading artists and ensembles ranging from Scottish Opera to Craig Hill to the region, as well as celebrating the rich talents of locally based actors, dancers and musicians. Join us for our 44th festival full of vibrancy, colour and fun!”
